ABOUT THE RESORT

• Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa is a 5-star Relais & Châteaux resort, awarded a Michelin Key, located on the renowned Paje Beach in Zanzibar.
• We are seeking a highly hands-on and experienced Resort Manager to lead the daily on-site operation of our boutique luxury resort.
• This is not a corporate General Manager position. We are looking for a practical hotelier who is highly visible in the operation, close to guests and colleagues, and takes full ownership of the day-to-day running of the resort.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily resort operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, Maintenance, Security and the Watersports Center.
• Maintain a strong daily presence throughout the property and ensure consistently high standards of guest experience and service.
• Coordinate department heads, establish priorities, follow up on actions and ensure commitments are delivered.
• Liaise closely with Sales and Reservations, providing operational input prior to arrival and ensuring effective on-site coordination for guests, travel agents, groups and VIP stays.
• Ensure smooth communication between departments and the effective handling of guest requests, incidents and complaints.
• Monitor operational standards, costs, staffing levels and productivity.
• Identify operational issues early, implement practical solutions and ensure recurring problems are permanently addressed.
• Support the recruitment, training, development and performance management of the operational team.
• Work closely and transparently with the owners on key operational and strategic matters.

CANDIDATE PROFILE & QUALIFICATIONS

• We are looking for an experienced hospitality professional who combines strong operational leadership with a hands-on approach.

REQUIRED / PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years of experience in luxury hospitality, including management responsibility.
• Resort or hotel management experience preferred.
• Strong Assistant Resort Manager, Executive Assistant Manager (EAM) or Director of Operations profiles who are ready to take the next step will also be considered.
• Beach, island or resort experience is a strong advantage.
• Experience in Africa, the Indian Ocean or remote-resort environments is highly valued.

• French is a strong advantage.
• Willing and able to relocate to Zanzibar and be permanently based on site.

OWNER-LED ENVIRONMENT

• Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa is an owner-led resort, with the owners actively involved in strategy, development and key decisions.
• The Resort Manager will have clear responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the resort and must be comfortable working in a close, transparent and constructive relationship with the owners.
• The successful candidate will be expected to combine operational independence with strong communication, ensuring that the owners remain informed while the Resort Manager takes full ownership of the daily operation.
